TRX for back pain: good or bad?

A lot of different information is published on the Internet and in print media about what to do for back pain. Common tips include TRX loop training. The main advantages of this type of training include the absence of an axial load on the spine (since the work takes place with the weight of one’s own body) and the active involvement of the so-called core muscles, which are designed to “strengthen” the back.

We dealt with our rehabilitation massage therapist, TRX instructor Anna Kolesnikova, is it really possible to work out with back pain and whether there are advantages to training with TRX in relation to other types of training (yoga, swimming, gym).

They say that only TRX allows a comprehensive approach to solving back problems, and yoga, Pilates, callanetics, exercise therapy cannot provide a long-term effect. Really?

Anna Kolesnikova:

That's not entirely true. We cannot compare TRX to yoga or Pilates. First of all, because TRX is a simulator (like a kettlebell), and yoga and Pilates are complex training systems. They involve classes both without equipment and with it. For example, there are separate areas of TRX-yoga and TRX-pilates.

Callanetics is the last century, forget this word. Now there are much more useful and effective systems, trends and trends in fitness.

LFK is a collective term. The same elements of yoga, Pilates and exercises with TRX can be part of the complexes of therapeutic physical culture (LFK).

In general, there are no canons regarding the fact that some directions are absolutely safe and effective for back pain, while others, on the contrary, are categorically contraindicated. It all depends on the nuances: what kind of changes in the spine and surrounding tissues occur; what is the trigger that leads to pain, because it can hurt in one place, and the cause is in another, which does not hurt.

How then to choose what to do with back pain?

Anna Kolesnikova:

It's not about the flow or direction of fitness. You need to look for a specialist who has a wide range of knowledge, knows different techniques at the same time, has experience working with people with similar problems.

Look for more than just a trainer who has cheaper or more expensive, prettier abs or more Instagram followers. And not the hall that is closer to home.

If you have back pain, you need to contact thinking specialists. They have a differentiated approach to the organization of training loads, constantly learning new things, and developing. There are, trust me! And TRX-certified trainers most likely belong to this categories. In specialized courses, a lot of attention is paid to the nuances of the technique of working with loops and the mechanics of movements in general.

And the loops themselves do not have magical properties. Just showing up for a class called "TRX" or holding onto TRX wrong and doing some exercises you watched on YouTube won't work. In addition, if you work incorrectly, the situation can only worsen and provoke back pain.

What is special about TRX in Nikko Fight Club?

Anna Kolesnikova:

For me, the special value of training with TRX is that here we train not muscles, but movements. We improve people's ability to move, teach them to do it correctly, rationally, harmoniously, without overloading individual muscles and joints. Due to the fact that many muscle groups are involved in the work at once, a large amount of energy consumption occurs. Accordingly, such activities are great for maintaining good physical shape and training the cardiovascular system.

My main task as a TRX coach at Nikko Fight Club - to teach people to move correctly and safely in all three planes. How? Due to the harmonious effect on the body and the correction of incorrect motor stereotypes. TRX makes the joints move the way nature intended. Thanks to this, with regular training, my trainees become stronger, stronger, healthier and stop feeling any pain, discomfort in the back.

What is your top recommendation for those with back pain?

Anna Kolesnikova:

Be sure to keep moving! There is nothing worse for our body than long static positions, and even with the wrong posture. They need to be compensated by physical activities of different directions. TRX is not the only, but widely accepted, great way to do this.

When your back hurts, the first reaction may be to refrain from any physical activity and decide to lie on the couch until the pain subsides. However, in most cases, this approach is probably the worst thing you can do. Physical activity may well help reduce pain, while inactivity will seriously delay recovery.

Loop training TRX in Nikko Fight Club contribute to the harmonious and effective development of all the muscles of the body, combining stability, mobility, strength and flexibility is what we all need in everyday life. That is why the TRX simulator will be useful for people with spinal diseases.
